After a successful late winter workshop, Kerry Kim returns to the Baxter Arts Centre on Saturday, September 14, 2019. This one-day workshop will focus on exploring the human form with local skin tones as seen in the works of Singer Sargent and Lucien Freud. Alla prima techniques and practical methods of mixing skin tones will be emphasized, based on a refined version of Sargent’s palette.
This workshop is designed to support a transition to oils from other media (pastels, watercolour, acrylics) and will focus on understanding and using supports, paints, solvents, mediums, and tools associated with oils. It is best suited to intermediate/advanced painters with experience in another medium. Good painting practices (such as concept, composition, and value planning) will be included, as will an extended session on colour mixing. This is a studio class, working from students' own photo references.
Stay tuned for more information.
